Sanatan Vedic Hindu religion, culture and civilization have been continuously flowing on this earth for millions of years. Sanatan means eternal, ancient yet ever-new and timeless. Natural and timeless in every age. The ancient Vedic Hindu culture is essentially a Yajnya culture. Yajnya is a self-evident institution, it is a culture in itself, and Yajnya is religion. The rituals of Vedic yajnyas are the only means by which human society can be stable and secure. All the essential elements of a yagna - the collective effort, the cooperation of all sections of society, the spiritual pull, as well as the food, wealth, resources and labour required to complete the yagna - have always been considered central to the yagna and distributed equitably in society. It is this spirit of participation and interdependence that has kept the society healthy and strong for generations.
There are many forms of worship. In particular:
-
Shrauta Yajnya
-
Smarta Yajnya
-
Individual Yajnya
Smarta and Grihya yajnyas are performed to fulfill specific wishes or desires of individuals or groups.
Srauta yajnyas are performed for the welfare of the entire world and to maintain global balance.
Srauta yajnya is mainly of two types - 1) Haviryajnya and 2) Somyajnya.
Somyajnya means SomYag. Somrasa is offered in Somyajnya. SomYag is a very ancient scientific method that maintains the balance of the world and the universe. It is a divine process that purifies the five elements - earth, air, water, fire and earth - and benefits not only human beings but also animals, birds, creatures and plants. In ancient India, thousands of SomYagas were performed every year on a large scale. The rare Somvalli plant found in the Himalayas, Sahyadri and other mountain ranges was used to extract sommaras. The SomYag tradition had a great contribution in the immense prosperity of ancient India and the "golden smoke" emanating from it. But over time, this knowledge has been lost.

His Holiness Gajanan Maharaj of Shivpuri (Akkalkot Swami Samarth Parampara) revived the SomYag tradition by performing Somyajnya in 1969.
P. Pu. Nana Kale, a disciple of Yogiraj Gulwani Maharaj, set up a Veda Pathshala at Barshi-Solapur to train priests of all four Vedas in SomYag.
Today, the world and mankind are facing many problems. Global warming is causing damage to the protective ozone layer. Wars are going on all over the world. Cultural values are eroding and family and social life is in crisis. Man has created an illusion of development by mercilessly exploiting the resources of the earth. This has led to many crises - social problems, economic instability, pollution, contaminated food, epidemics, tsunamis, etc.
We believe that organizing SomYajnya is a perfect and holistic solution to these problems. Organizing SomYag is very difficult and it is considered to be a great fortune to do SomYag at least once in life.
In these challenging times, for the upliftment and protection of humanity, for the revival of Sanatan Vedic Hindu Dharma across the world and for global peace and welfare (Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay), Bhishma Foundation has resolved to organize 108 SomYagas in India from 2026 to 2035. We have received the blessings and support of respected scholars, saints and experts in the Vedic, religious and spiritual fields. Experienced and knowledgeable priests, acharyas and ritwiks are associated with us.
The chanting of the Vedic mantras in this SomYaga allows one to experience an extraordinary and wonderful divine energy during this yaga. The main purpose of this yajnya is world peace and prosperity. These yagnas are organized for the balance of the cycles of the seasons, the balance of the Panch Mahabhootas, the purification of the atmosphere and the environment, freedom from global warming, the balance of cosmic energy. Along with this, this yagna is very beneficial for the attainment of health, satisfaction, happiness and prosperity of every person, purification of personal atmosphere i.e. aura purification, pentacellular purification, family happiness and prosperity. Mantras from all four Vedas, ie, Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharvaveda are chanted in the Somyag. Havirdravya aahuti, Mantra Jagar and Aroma Therapy will definitely help in improving the physical and mental health of the participating yajmana.
